Who runs this and these kinds of things when I hear about illegal gambling on the news? How is it decided whether someones gambling was illegal and what do they do to them if they get caught? How does the whole thing work? Why is certain types of gambling legal and other types of gambling illegal? What types of gambling is legal and illegal? And whats your opinion on gambling and the laws on it?

Some types of gambling are allowed by law. Other types are not. There is no global answer on what is allowed and what is not because it varies by jurisdiction.

Gambling laws are mostly controlled by the states. In general gambling is illegal without state license to do so.

It’s nothing but a hustle. The exact same game of poker sanctioned by the state gaming commission would be legal, but if you opened your garage to poker tournaments and the house (you) made money, then it would be illegal.

Legal gambling is done by license where the state gets income from the casino. This gambling is heavily regulated and strict procedures are followed to ensure that it is above board, meaning no cheating is allowed.

Illegal gambling is done without regulation and without any money being returned to the state. If you gamble with the goon down the street and he cheats you, you have no recourse and if you don’t pay, you may wind up in the hospital or worse.

The law does not consider your local penny ante poker game to be gambling.

What makes gambling legal or illegal is whether or not the establishment thats allowing the gambling has a license to do so or not.
without the license its deemed “illegal” and when you do have your license it is deemed “legal”. the reason you need a license is because establishments that holds gambling have to uner go audits quite frequently and are usually taxed very heavily.
Its kinda like how you cant be a doctor unless you have a PHD. Does that make sense? lol.
