jtomsich: What’s the best new baseball card set for an 8 yr old to buy packs that has all players & is inexpensive?
I am looking to help a friend’s kid start baseball card collecting and am looking for a set to collect that is NOT an investment but has a complete set of players. Buying packs and trying to accumulate a set (like baseball card collecting used to be) is what he would enjoy. Is there a base Topps set, for example, that packs or boxes of packs are easy and cheaper to buy?

Answer by Carli WDepending on how much you are spending. Walmart has packs of entire teams and for an entire season that are pretty affordable (around $ 20 or $ 30) but otherwise a variety of packs will get you a vairety of players.Answer by catastrophekid
I would consider something like the 2000 Bowman’s Best set. I know that it’s older, but you can still find unopened packs and boxes and there are only about 300 cards including all of the inserts.
Maybe see if the 2007 set is small like that. It’s nice to know that someday you can acutally finish the set (and it will fit in a notebook with plastic sleeves)
