For Indian cinema as a whole Kamlabai Gokhale was the first actress in the 1913 film Bhasmasur although her mother Durgabai also was in the film so it can be said they shared this credit. But being an actress was still a shameful thing for many years after this.Answer by Mandatory
What an outrageously leading question!!! Your question suggests, by implication, that women in India were not allowed to act in movies! Why don’t you do something useful in your life and stop being a disappointment to your parents!
Women in India have achieved more in their own country compared to women anywhere in the western world! India has already had a female PM (commander in chief) and President! India has MANY female CEOs! Indian cinema has always had actresses!!Answer by Indian Singh
