: What would the government do if there was a deadly virus spreading in the usa at a fast rate (ie zombies)?
I am doing a project for scifi class and one of the elements on the brouchure is “how to determine the type of attack”. So what government agency would take care of this(a deadly virus spreading the usa very fastly)? And what would they do if there was a deadly virus spreading the united states very fast? And what plans does the government have in a situation like this?
Thanks for the help.

The government would address this in three steps:
1. Send out a press release blaming the irresponsible policies of the Bush administration for the outbreak.
2. Blame the racist, violent rhetoric of the Tea Party for encouraging pre-emptive death blows against the bitten-but-not-yet-turned.
3. Pass a massive spending bill to establish a committee to investigate the possibility of setting up a board of inquiry to look into creating a new Department of Zombie Affairs.
Answer by Brianna McintoshThey would probably have national channel taking over other tv channels and radios (or other communication methods) advising people to not get out of the house and lock their doors (and the anchor would say something melodramatic like “and let’s pray to god we can survive this together”).
It would probably issue leaflets which would be thrown out of helicopters giving instructions to people (take shifts guarding the house from the inside, keep their guns/knives with them all the time and open an international hotline where people who got effected (or have relatives who had been effected) can ring and ask questions.
And that’s it. The army would have probably stepped into this and guard the street, checking cars and pedestrians and killing all the zombies.
Answer by Hoekom Jy My HaatNo matter the class, I hope you would never use the word “fastly”. That should be quickly.
Have you read the book WWZ, An Oral History of The Zombie War?

Poses a lot of these same questions, and the government’s inability to stem the virus.
Plus, it is a VERY good book. Even if you don’t like the Zombie genre.

Thanks, Ron.
WWZ was a great little book, wasn’t it. I especially liked it, though even far-fetched, it was written with the zombies being victims of a virus or plague, and sounded vaguely scientifically plausable, without any voodoo, black magic, or occult influences.
It rang very true, and horrifying, with just the slightest disturbing thoughts of “this sounds SO real”.
