Evan G: What would happen if we sent 300 Apache helicopters to Libya to kill the mercenaries & soldiers?
I have previously asked about sending them to kill the drug cartels in Mexico.
Well I have been informed that would not work.
Well what if we sent them to Libya to kill the mercenaries that are killing protesters?
Those mercenaries should be easy to spot, simply shoot all the people with guns that are firing on protesters.
Would this be effective against the Libyan forces or would the Libyan forces over power the apaches?

300 helos…. okay you’re going to need maintenance crews, fuel, weapons, supply for the personnel. Don’t forget you’re going to need spec. ops on the ground to point them in the right direction.
Too complicated, too much risk. Let the Libyans figure out their own shit.
Answer by Davythe mercenaries probably have some pretty modern weapons in their arsenal, they could shoot down our choppers. it would be better to hire some more mercenaries to kill the libyian mercenaries. that keeps our hands clean and solves the problem.Answer by Ed
It would be an exercise in futility, many people would die and we would have created many enemies in the region, you wish to repeat another bush blunder in the area?Answer by Erik Nostin
Whether it’s possible is, I hardly think, any real question. The US Armed Forces have the capability of targeting a bug on your shoulder from a ship a thousand miles away (albeit, the collateral damage from using a rocket to annihilate a bug on your shoulder would be rather extreme). What the real question here is whether we should or not. The Middle East and a lot of the people along the northern coast of Africa already think us interfering war-mongers as it is. We need to start retracting our already over-entrenched interfering policies, not get involved in the civil unrest of yet another nation, whether or not we are trying to guarantee freedom to the people. Sometimes, having a country tell you that they “have” to be there to help you can be rather insulting to a people. I doubt Americans were extremely thrilled at the prospect of having to have France come in to use us as method to fight for their interests. Could we put an end to the Libyan forces to help the people? Of course. But at what political and economic cost?Answer by Jack
first you would have to base the choppers in israel most likely. then you will have attacks on israel which means all out war in the middle east. it’s not something we want to get into.Answer by Pearberr
We have no god damned idea what would happen if we used military force to intervene on behalf of the Libyan people.
Even if everything went great, and we helped the people win their revolution, they have just lost one of the key points that make a revolution successful – Pride.
The Americans, even with a little bit of help from France, were able to say, “Look at what we did. We, the United States, we beat Britain.
The French overthrew their monarchy only a few years later and were able to say the same thing. They did it, They won their freedom THEY earned it.
Both France and America understand the meaning of Freedom isn’t Free. Libya and Egypt will hopefully understand the same thing, and they will value it massively. The people in Iraq do not. They do believe that Freedom is something that they are entitled to, something that is in fact and should be free. They will not fight for it, and Iraq will soon fall into a dictatorship again as a result.
Let Libya succeed either by their own actions or fail by the same. That is the only way they can succeed.
Answer by DonaldIf we did that the protesters would become enraged and join forces with Gaddhafi against the Americans
One thing about Muslim Terrorists is that they will kill each other, however both sides hate Americans
The minute that we come to save the poor protesters they will switch sides and both the protesters and the mercenaries who were killing them minutes ago will now join forces to fight the Americans
It is best just to let them fight it out themselves.
That is what Muslim Terrorists do.
In Libya it is just a bunch of Muslim Terrorists being Muslim Terrorists. That is how they entertain themselves.
That is particularly true in Libya

Weak ass Libyan forces have no chance against 300 heavily armed Apaches!Answer by Chris Christ
Well the main problem is that there is a good chance that the protestors do hate us even more than the gadaffi regime does.
Sad but true. But more ore less in the last years we did help the regime (so we can pump some oil) to stay in power simple because it was the lesser evil.
(just for example the EU even paid gadaffi that he stops africans using lybia to escape to the next EU country). so we don´t have to deal with em. (some have been shot and a lot of them have just “dissapeared” but finally they didn´t arrive in europe so everybody was happy without asking any questions). But finally i guess the fact that we paid a dictator so he does the dirty work we don´t want to do (You know we have our “holy” human right courts) didn´t make us more popular along the people. I mean we even sold him the weapons he now uses to shoot on his people.
So staying out is the best thing we can do.
They will hate us anyway,Answer by cordeliabrainiac
One of the other posters mentioned that the 300 Apache helicopters would need full support and have some vulnerabilities that the Libyans could exploit.
This on top of the two wars we already have going on?
The other thing you need to consider is if we were to take Gaddafi out (I’m not saying we should or we should not), who takes his place? Us? For how long? Another dictator?
I like your plan in the short term but not so much in the long term.
Answer by Who now?Aside all that’s wrong with your question, if you sent 300 apaches in there, they would probably kill those Lybian forces and the civillians they’re shooting at.Answer by Mark F
You are probably too young to remember the spring of 2003 when an entire battalion of AH-64’s were put out of action in Iraq by small arms fire with one bird shot down.
It would probably end up something like that.
