Lexi: What type of clothing do women have to wear in prison?
When in prison what type of clothing do you get to wear?

I’ve been told some wear sweat pants with whit t-shirts, white wireless bra and white underwear and then if you leave the prison you get an orange jumpsuit are most prison like this?

depends. People like Bradley Manning are allowed to wear underwear, and nothing else.

From what I’ve heard and seen it varies greatly by prison. I’m sure the state you are in matters, too. County lock up vs. state vs. Federal will also play into this as well as the level of security. Most prisons seem to use either jumpsuits or in some cases dresses. It seems jumpsuits are becoming the standard for women prisoners now. Some may use white shirts and sweat pants though.

It depends on your state.
In New York inmates cannot wear patterns or pictures on their clothing, it must be solid colored. Further, certain colors are restricted, no black, no blue. Clothing issued to inmates is all green, hence the civilian staff are not to wear green as they would not want to be confused with an inmate in an emergency.
