Spendelicious27: What tax deductions do I have as a makeup artist?
I’m not having too much luck researching on the internet what tax deductions are used by makeup artists. Any tips or idea where I can find this information other than the obvious (tax preparer)? Thanks in advance 🙂
I am 1099. I am just interested in knowing the categories that are legit and available for deductions. Thanks!

Depends whether you are W-2 or 1099 – perhaps you can specify. It sound as if you’d be best paying for professional assistance, however, as you sound pretty lost and Yahoo Answers isn’t proper individual tax advice, just general info.
You’re not going to find a list anywhere by type of work. You file a schedule C and deduct any “reasonable and necessary” expenses related to your work. If you are going to be doing your own taxes then you should read some IRS Publications: #334 tax guide for small business; #535 business expenses; #583 starting a business and keep records. Also read the instructions for schedule c. These are all available at www.irs.gov Click forms and publications; then publication number; and a list will pop up. The instructions for the schedule c will be forms and publications; form and instruction number; look for 1040 schedule c instructions in the list
