What stores are good for shopping for causal clothing?

LJ: What stores are good for shopping for causal clothing?
I start student teaching this year and would like to know what stores are good for shopping for causal clothing, possibly in the queen or long island area in NY.

I do not want to wear street clothing such as jeans to my new place of work.

Any suggestions of where to shop?
I didn’t mean causal; I mean to say suitable clothing for a place of work.
