Where it says this:
Rather, the emphasis is placed on quantitative pattern-recognition techniques such as
exploratory data analysis (EDA), cluster analysis, and principal components analysis. Topics in
archaeological sampling, seriation, and spatial analysis will also be covered. During the
semester, students will use two software packages – SYSTAT and TFQA – to analyze both real
and constructed datasets.
exploratory data analysis – multi dimensional search and data mining
cluster analysis – statistical categorization – where you take dozens of variables and you go about finding combinations that predict stuff
archaeological sampling – methodology considerations to make it so other scientists know how to reproduce your results – and to assure your samples are representative samples
I don’t know what the other stuff is. To make a long story short – if you get into mathematical anthropology you need the equivalent of a a Masters in Statistics. Usually spacial refers to measuring how far apart data is. Like you’re trying to solve the questions of which two mummies are most alike and why.
