MSMBaller: What specific careers would allow me to travel and help others?
I’ll be graduating next year and I haven’t gotten enough advising through my college career and I’m just looking for specific careers that would allow me to travel and hopefully help others. Particularly something that isn’t non profit, because I do need to make money. An international ambassador is one of the things I have in mind, so if anyone can just list some other types of jobs so I could research them, I’d really appreciate it. And I’m also considering going to law school.

Uh, are you SURE you’re in college? Someone just doesn’t decide to become an international ambassador. They would typically major in something like political science, world history, etc., and become fluent in some other language. Plus, most people in the foreign service really aren’t helping others in the classic sense.
As for non-profits, LOL, their people don’t work for free! The reason it’s a non-profit is because the company itself makes no money; the employees still get paid.
It’s difficult to assist you since we have no idea about your major, but things which pop to mind are:
1. Peace Corps
2. Salvation Army/Red Cross/any other similar humanitarian organization (UNESCO/UNICEF/etc.)
3. Military
4. Missionary
5. Teacher in foreign country.
As for lawyers, very few of them really travel, especially new ones, because at first you would have to pass the Bar in each state in which you wish to practice.
