mzgigglez: What song would you dance to i you were doing a belly dance with swords for your sweet 16?
I have all the belly dance superstar CD’s and I can get more CD’s if there is a song you feel is appropriate for a sword dance (belly dance). Please help me pick!

You should pick something that inspires you. Also you should take into consideration just what your going to do with your sword and dance. Will it involve floor work? Will you be balancing it a lot? Probably you want a piece that has a medium or slow pace as this matches better with the slower floor work moves and balancing. However, if your looking to show off a lot of sharp hip snaps while balancing you might want a medium or fast paced song. You may also want to consider what style of bellydance you are preforming. Is it a nightclub style? ATS? Fusion? etc… Then try to pick music that matches better with that style. Many people prefer to do a sword piece with music that is more ethereal, new age-ish or mystical in sound things like songs from the beats antique cd’s which are pretty popular. Watch some sword dances on youtube and see if you like the feel of anything they are dancing to.
I Like the song Jai Ho By the pussycat dolls and rakeem but the songs saying you are my destiny and swords don’t really match just by thinking off the top of your head but if you go a little deeper and get creative you’ll find away to incorporate swords.Answer by ♥Shirin♥
I agree with Cassandra.
Personally, I really like earthy instrumental (slow-ish) songs with a strong rhythm for sword dances.
My artist Picks would have to be
Mosavo, Solace, Beats Antique, and Helm.
You may also want to shorten your song to about 2-2.5 minutes. There’s only so many “tricks” you can do with a sword unless you’ve really mastered that prop.
