What software would I need to start making music?

: What software would I need to start making music?
I genuinely do not care how complex the software is, I’ve used a lot of complicated video editing software so I should be able to get to grips with anything. I’m not sure if it will make a difference, but I’m most interested in making drum and bass/electro tracks.

If anyone has any tips on top of a piece of software that’d be brilliant. Really hoping to make something of this!

There are a lot of options, both free and paid. The most popular for the kind of music you are interested in are :

Cubase
Logic
Ableton

Other options are :

Pro Tools (used by many studios but not within the budget of many doing electronic music)
FL Studio
Reaper (newre than the rest of the list, but best price)
Sonar XL

Try trials of a few and see what fits your production style best

There are many options, and they are all capable of what you want. Reason, Ableton, FL Studio, Sonar, Logic, Cubase, etc…

I use FL Studio Producer Edition myself. It’s not too hard to learn but has tons of advanced features. It has a superb piano roll, automation support, audio recording and editing and lots more. You can use VST plugins and samples to get any sound you want, it’s great for electronic music.
