AdventureGirl: What should I know beforemy vacation to Libya?
I am going to be traveling to Libya with my husband and I’m wondering what if there are any tips I should know, due to the kinetic military action going on over there right now. My husband is an American and his family lives there, although he has never been there.

If you have been to Libya, please let me know any tips you have. Thanks in advance.

I would say try to avoid it right now and wait till things are sorted out..

If your husband (20? 30? years old?) never went to Libya to see his extended family it should be possible to wait a bit longer until things are getting calm. As an American you should listen to the US travel warning and not cry for help when stuck in Libya.

Otherwise, get a bullet proofed vest and a helmet:))

I believe it is currently illegal to travel to Libya without direct permission from the state department.

I can not say with great confidence. However, my opinion is this is a very strange question. The last big person who left from Virginia to goto Libya was going there to kill people. He would properly be identified by the Libyan government terrorist. I am concerned that someone would ask a question of this nature or find it entertaining? If you are to say the question was for later travel based upon the timing of this question I still think there is obvious reason for concern.

Another serious issue is the run ways in Libya have been blown up using over $ 550,000,000 in bombs from USA, It is my opinion only a terrorist would ask such a question? But, I do not know – I am no expert it is just my opinion.

Libya is a great great country ….
great people..
BUT i don’t think that it is a very good idea to go now.
Maybe wait another year or so….
