Ms.Hockey!: What should I get my sister for her baby shower?
Hi, Im just wondering if there is like a “special rule” of what types of things I should get for my sisters baby shower. This is my Sister and her Husbands first child and she is having two showers. One being put on my both sides of the family, Im planning on getting stuff from her registration and then some, but I was just wondering if there expectations of what I get being im her only sister and so on! I’ve already got the baby some clothes, some super cure binkys and Im planning on putting a bath time basket together. Just looking for Ideas and so on!

either a diaper bag filled with all baby necessities, or a baby bath tub filled with all the baby necessities.
The best thing I got I baught myself and used it constantly was a glider chair with the glider ottoman. So useful, you can find them somewhat inexpensively at Walmart or Kmart or even Target sometimes. I say save your money on all the little stuff and get the glider. They will use it. Another great item is a vibrating bouncy seat for the baby. Used this 24/7.Answer by xxunloved_little_angelxx
I got a ton of clothes at my baby shower – there were so many newborn/0-3 month clothes that he didn’t have a chance to wear that many, and very few clothes that were 9 months or older. There were also very few toys for an older baby. Now, they aren’t exactly needed immediately but these things are GREAT to have around beforehand; my son suddenly outgrew all of his 9mo clothes at once and I was caught really off-guard.
Most babies absolutely ADORE pushtoys – again, this wouldn’t be useful *right away* but it’s great to have stored until it can be used.
Answer by L.B.i would suggest diapers because you can never have to many diapers and they are expensive..you could buy them any sizes also becasue they will use them some time..Answer by Lauren B
Babysitting coupons. You could also get some of the less fun but more useful items on her registry that no one ever buys. Everyone wants to buy the cute little clothes and toys. I found myself with 50,000 tiny cute outfits and no diapers, wipes, bottle drying rack, etc. No matter what I am sure she will appreciate the thought and effort you put into it.Answer by Nat
i know being the only sister you feel like you have to go out of your way probably to get a really nice gift. So try to get one of the big things.Answer by aza
How about a nice voucher for an hours pampering for her when she has the baby. Trust me, this is something that comes well well down the list when the baby arrives (and funnily enough continues till they leave home I guess…lol) so that would be a lovely gift seeing as though you’ve already done the doting Auntie bit and got lots of bits and pieces and will no doubt continue, again till they leave home. Just an idea.Answer by kay101
Here is a site with adorable baby headbands. They are excellent quality and absolutely the cutest I’ve seen. By the way, when you’re looking on there, search for the “Alissa” in the search box. It is my favorite.

Have you considered going in with other friends or family on a big-ticket item like the crib or stroller if she doesn’t already have them? You could also make coupons for her to use such as for dinner out for her and her husband and 2 free hours of baby-sitting while she runs errands. I got a gift certificate for a massage at my shower and I LOVED it. It’s all up to you. Your sister is going to love anything, no matter what.Answer by Denise
Diapers!!!!! You can never have enough. Get a size 1. I ended up with a lot of newborn size, but he wasn’t in those long and I hardly got size 1.Answer by Diaper Cakewalk
How about a diaper cake? You are obviously wanting to do something really special for her, and these are super cute. They really make a baby shower memorable. When the baby is a year old, she won’t remember who gave her the socks or the washcloths, but she will still be telling people about the diaper cake!

Enjoy the baby shower, and congratulations on becoming an Auntie!
Answer by tweetymayThose are all great gifts. Something to also consider is a “replenishing” gift, such as a promise to buy a pack of diapers every month! These are things she may get at the shower, but once they are used, she will need more.
And of course anything on her registry is usually a good choice. When you are having the first baby and need EVERYTHING, there are still things that you THINK you need, but never use, and other things that you didn’t even think of.
I like the person that suggested “babysitting coupons”. Many times the best gift to give a new mom is a helping hand. Even if you go to her home and watch the baby while mom takes a nice relaxing bath! (You might also consider a “Mommy” gift- something special that your sister likes- that will help her to remember she is still herself, and not just someone’s mom now)
