Smilingthewholeway: What should I do to get ready for soccer tryouts?
I am 11 years old and my school has a soccer team. I want to try out because I love soccer and have a natural talent for it. I heard it is hard to make the soccer team so is there any workouts that I can do to get ready for it? It is really cold and snowy here so I can’t practice outside. Should I bring my soccer ball to the YMCA?
Thanks for all your answers. I really appreciate them!

YES! That’s a start. Practice footskills at the YMCA just keeping the ball as close to your feet as possible. Trying a several tricks here and there. Do it in a tight place, that way your movements are quick and you are forced to control the ball better. Bring a couple friends to help out as defenders or forwards if you are trying out for a defensive position.
Also, do toe taps on top of the soccer ball and move around the ball in a circle while you tap the top of it. Do this until you can’t feel your legs anymore.
If you can run inside the YMCA, run a short distance, lets say 5 strides, then run back to the start position, then run the same distance (5 strides) + 2 strides then quickly go back to the start position, then sprint 5 + 3 strides and back to start. Do this until you can’t possibly sprint anymore…you will basically drop to the floor! But trust me it will get you ready for any game.
Good luck!
Answer by sidok…. first get all your soccer kit.. and then start with your fitness run, jump, push up, sit upand then do a little ball work. because ball work is a little part of training. to become a good soccer player you need to hav speed… that is work is the most important thing.because in a actually game the ball will be with u only for4 to 5 mintues in the whole game u have the ball only that much sooo speed is important n than cums ur skillsAnswer by Abby f
Ok first off you have to be able to do 2 main things! Make good hard passes, and have good ball control. That is what 90% of coaches want to see and will probly have you do in the tryouts. Running is also a good way to get in shape i know it might not be very fun but their gonna make you do a lot of running in soccer.
Remember Coaches arnt always looking for a superstar, they just want someone who will make a good asset to the team, come in with a good atitiude and do all that you can and thats all you can do i hope this helps!
