You’ll begin with ballet “flats”, these are simple slipper-like shoes with a thin leather sole. They are not expensive and should last a year or so depending on how many classes you take. I remember duct taping the sole on when they separated from the upper part. Worked pretty well for a while. They usually come with a short piece of elastic that they leave for you to sew on across the arch of the foot. The reason for this is that comfort for each individual dancer is not the same. Have fun dancing.
i’ve been taking ballet for ten years now (:im 13) and the shoes are only about like 15 to maybe 30 dollars idk i’d try looking on https://www.zappos.com for some but just look up ballet shoes and they are like slippers almost but they are leather but sometimes it depends where you dance too some have paticular shoes they want you to wear. you would also need a leotard and tights and shorts are optional .. try https://www.discountdance.com/index.php thats where i buy my crap.
lol hope i helped this was long(:
Answer by AimeeWhen i first stated ballet my teacher recommended the canvas ballet flats amd they were perfect for me.Answer by Live it, Love it, Dance it.
You would start with ballet flat. You should get canvas shoes they are cheaper and have a cleaner line than leather ones. I am curently wearing Capizio.
Here is a site that may be helpful:
Answer by HannahYou will start with ballet slipper or flats or shoes whichever you prefer (name wise)
Go to discountdancesupply.com
or dancedistributors.com
or allaboutdance.com they have cheap shoes and other ballet suplies you will need
You will need:
ballet slipper
leotard, usually the studio prefers black
pink ballet tights
and if you want legwarmers, a shrug or a wrapskirt
also with your ballet slipper there are a few different options
split sole- i prefer this, i can get onto a higher releve (which is good) and have more freedom to dance in
full sole- i don’t like this as much, restrict your releves
Canvas- i prefer this, you can wash it when it gets dirty and and fits to your food right away
leather- you cannot wash these, but it wil slowly start to fit the shape of your foot perfectly much better than canvas but for the first while they are loose and dont fit well usually
I would also recommend getting them professionally fitted for your first time since sometimes you have to get a street size up or a couple down,( the sizes are wacky) and if you get the wrong size it become very uncomfortable and bad for your feet, especially if you ahve narrow or wide feet you should get it specialized for that (and that’s free btw)
also there are many different barnds: capezio, bloch, leos, i personally i have sansha which i quite like.
also same with a leotard- go to your local dance store to try on a few, the bigger the store the more options*
hope this helped :]
have fun dancing!!!!
Any beginning ballet student should start with leather full sole ballet slippers. They work your foot more and will improve your arch. Stay away from canvas split soles to begin with. They are for more advanced dancers. The leather last longer too. Make sure they fit snugly but not so snug your toes will curl under. the leather will stretch out to fit your foot as you wear it. If you can get your first pair fitted at a dance shop, you will know how they should fit.
You will need a leotard and tights. Check with your school to see if there is a dress code. Standard dress code is black cami leo and pink tights.
