guitarhero08: What pet is better a ferret or or a cockatiel?
I was wondering which one is a better pet a cockatiel or a ferret. I am looking for a pet that doesn’t have to go to the vet for shots or doesn’t have a bad smell, im not sure if a ferret has to. I am looking for a pet that would sit with me. What are the pros and cons of each.

Cockatiels don’t usually like to sit with their owners and their cages are hard to clean and get smell very bad sometimes and Ferrets have a natural oder but love to be held
Hope I helped!

If you plan on taking your ferret out (On walks), I think they have to get shots from the vet as they can catch diseases. The problems with ferrets is that they’re prone to lots of different types of cancer, so it’s a guarantee that there will be an expensive vet bill at least once in their life time.
They also have a strong odor due to the oils in their fur. This CAN be helped by getting them spayed/neutered but it never completely gets rid of it. (You can only bath them about twice a year too being as it’s not really good for them)
Other than this – They’re REALLY playful, and absolutely LOVE attention. They need a minimum of 2 hours a day out of their cage, and so a ferret (although you don’t want a smelly pet) is really good if you want something to sit and play with. (Make sure you train it not to bite when it’s young, otherwise it’ll become a problem.)
I don’t know much about Cockatiels. All I know is that the one my grandma had used to climb on your hand and whistle through the night if you didn’t cover the cage with a blanket.
I know they can be good pets – But you HAVE to spend good quality time with them every day otherwise they get scared and stay in their cage.
Ferrets need rabies and distemper shots to keep their health, neither of which is expensive. Neither ferrets nor cockatiels really enjoy just sitting and being pet, they are playful creatures and like to move. Neither smell as long as you clean their cages often. I don’t think that either of these pets are for you, you should look into other pets like maybe guinea pigs or hedgehogs that like to just sit and are content to spend their time relazing with you. Good luck.
