robcheerio: What percentage of Macdonalds burgers is human meat?
If the amount of an ingredient is below a certain amount the product can be said to contain 0g – for instance look at a can of Coke Zero. So presumably McD’s can say “Our burgers contain no human meat.” however they could in fact contain up to 0.49g per 100g!
Spot on Bird! That is exactly what I am talking about! It’s just a small step to deliberately adding various parts and listing them as “Bulking agents” on the ingredients.

Cooking/reheating is not the issue – it’s the meatpacking industry!
Read ‘Fast Food Nation’ or (watch the film – it’s about fictional characters but still grounded in reality.) Both are scary and very interesting.
Or read this article:
https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2001/07/dangerous-meatpacking-jobs-eric-schlosser
The article is by Eric Schlosser, the sociologist who wrote Fast Food Nation, and it describes in graphic detail how dangerous it is to work in a meat packing plant in America and how – in some cases – the machines don’t stop when people’s limbs get caught in them etc.
So, in other words, it’s very possible and if McDonald’s don’t have to declare a “human meat” content of .42g /100g (for example), you can bet they won’t! Ethical or not, they’re not going to risk shareholders’ profits, are they?
Also interesting to note – outbreaks of e coli from fast food burgers etc. are almost always a result of small traces of fecal matter (poo!) in the meat. That’s a fact:
Good question. Wish we could find out for sure!
Answer by patsworthGross! Sounds like you’ve been reading “The Jungle” by Upton Sinclair. It’s all about the meat packing industry around the turn of the 20th century. Makes you think twice about eating any kind of meat.
