#1 – I don’t invest in mutual funds. I invest in the market, but I invest in individual stocks. I’ve been in the market 18 years. I’ve seen professional money managers (mutual fund managers) blow through my money faster than I can in down times. The main difference between you picking your stocks and a mutual fund manager picking stocks is that he takes a percent.
#2 – I don’t invest in foreign stocks. I’ve gone down that route and there is nothing protecting you once the money leaves this shore. On this side of the world, you have all kinds of regulatory institutions looking out for you.
Answer by ThecapI would invest in the EEM, emerging market ETF. And put about 15% of your portfolio in emerging markets.Answer by Len
I’m 38% in The Republic of China microcaps.
Some concern regarding market manipulation is mitigated by my concentrating for the most part on companies incorporated in the US. These are the result of reverse mergers with the American company the surviving entity.
I don’t participate in mutual funds. I prefer to make money. LOL
