Liam: What law is it that phohibits the unlawful taking of an animal?
My dad said theft, but surely that can’t be right? It would be kidnapping if it were a human. What law is it?

In what country?.In UK Countryside and Wildlife Act for wild animals also Game laws as regards poaching game and Theft Act for domestic and farm animals as they are classified as property.Answer by Pogolaw
Depends on the state and what kind of animal. If it’s a domesticated animal such as a cat or dog, it’s a misdemeanor theft in most places, if it’s a high dollar show dog or something it could be a felony theft based on the dollar amount, if it’s an agricultural production animal such as a cow or a horse it’s felony theft.Answer by joan k
