george: What kinda if motorcycle insurance is ideal for a new rider?
Okay i am getting my first bike (ninja 650R) and was wondering what would the most ideal insurance policy be? As far as i know i do not have health insurance. Should i get health insurance with motorcycle insurance? Would the motorcycle insurance cover injury if for some reason i were to get into an accident? Don’t plan on it, but looking out for myself here. Ninja 650R is generally a cheap bike and looking at an 09 model. Wouldn’t leave the house without proper gear on and of course a DOT approved helmet. What do you guys think and any recommendations on insurance

It’s the same as car insurance. You have state minimums and can get just collision or comprehensive which also covers repairs to your bike if you caused the wreck (if you consider it cheap and not financed, just get collision). The medical coverage, which your state will require you to get at some level, covers your hospital bills if you are in a wreck before your other health insurance kicks in if you have it. I’ve always used Geico and collision only, and it runs around $ 100-125 a year with a clean record. Comparable to adding an extra car and no extra drivers to your policy.
