Flower queen: What kind of makeup can an 11 year old going into the 6th grade wear?
My little sis wants to start wearing makeup. She wants some advice on wearing it and neither me nor my mother nor my other sister bother with makeup. She has fair skin, gorgeous brown eyes and black hair. What should she wear? She is pretty strongly for wanting to wear makeup and no one in the family sees a problem with it, but we just don’t know how to help her on this issue.

I used to be a make up artist for Lancome. I personally think she is to young, but if she insists and no one in the family minds I would suggest lip gloss and mascara. That’s it. You don’t want her to look trashy. Hope this helps.
I think she should only wear lipgloss and clear mascara. She’s only 11 so she really shouldnt wear any but idk. this ones on yu….Answer by Brooktini9131
A lot of people will tell you that she shouldn’t wear makeup, don’t listen to them. I am going into 8th grade, and EVERYBODY in middle school wears some make up. (Im being only partly exagerative) I wear Revlon base, concealer, powder, and blush. I wear just a little of each though. It shouldnt take her more than 5 minutes to do her makeup, or she IS putting on too much. A lot of people wear eyeliner and mascara. But with black hair and brown eyes, I think that would be too much. Middle school is hard, kids are mean, let her be herself, but im not going to lie, it makes her school life a lot easier to just go with the flow. A lot of the other people who answered this question just don’t know what it is like these days at middle schools and how much other classmates care about how you look. I hope this helps!!!
Oh and make sure it she is putting it on right so it doesn’t look trashy.

when I was 12, and in the 6th grade, I wore Mascara and Eyeliner.
but not too much.
and maybe some lipgloss.
but she is probably too young to wear like eyeshadows, and concealers, and foundations.Answer by Belle Marsden-lynch
For lipstick she should probably wear a nude colour, or a very light pink, she could use bronzer on her cheeks but if she’s 11 she should probably just wear lip glosses pastel colour eyeshadows.Answer by Always summer time<333
wayyyy to young thats sad
people will start talking about her
and your teaching her to be high maintenance at young age
only lip gloss honestly
Answer by jbmazingWhen I was in 6th grade which was not a long time ago, some girls wore too much makeup. So don’t cake it on. But I think a good suggestion would be a little eyeliner, NOT alot, but just a little to make her brown eyes sort of pop or look more bolder. Since she is fair skinned, it is too early to wear big stuff like concealer. Another suggestion is a little mascara to make the eyelashes appear longer. I would not wear eye shadow or color cream for her eyes because it would be too much for her eyes. 6th grade is a little too early to be wearing makeup which was my opinion, but this will not be too much. Hope I helped!Answer by RandomnessPoweredByStarbucks
Do NOT let her. I personally think it’s sickening on children. Kids shouldn’t wear makeup, they’re too young and it makes them grow up too fast.
It’s like giving drugs to someone, they won’t stop and it’s bad for them at that age.
I hate putting anything on my face, I won’t even put on lip balm.
If she’s really serious, tell her if she gets a good first day of school maybe she can put on a little lip gloss. If her year is going well and she doesn’t get into trouble the first week or two of school, mascara is okay.
But until seventh grade, no concealer, eye shadow, lipstick (lipstick, not lip gloss), eyeliner, or anything else. Maybe you could reward her with nude colors of lip stick or natural colored eye shadows for her good grades.Answer by Emily V
This is an exciting time for your sister. She is experimenting with her feminity.
Get her some clear mascara, a lip gloss, light blush and maybe a fun eye shadow. This way she can experiment with what she likes. I wouldnt get her any eyeliner. That is too sexy for an 11 year old.
I hope this helps!
Answer by CynthiaYeah, people are gonna tell her not to wear makeup for her own good.
Seriously.
My advice is don’t wear anything on her face. It’s just gonna make it worse.
Eyes, lips…fine whatever. Just don’t put foundation on her face.
well if her skin is good then just skip on foundation. but a little mascara, eyeliner and some brown eyeshadows, and since you guys don’t really wear makeup, go on youtube.com and find some tutorials on how to apply this makeup and such for her.Answer by Finding Truth In This World 😀
none! I’m 17 and still only wear foundation, mascara and body shop lip glossAnswer by Undisclosed Disires
If it’s not an issue with your family, than it should be fine. I do think it’s a bit young, but if applied properly and subtly, then there should be no issue. At her age, she should go for a clean, fresh slate. For the face, use a tinted moisturizer instead of foundation. Do this only if needed because it will be a big waste of time if you are trying to cover up flawless, youthful skin, I’d steer clear. If she has spot blemishes, apply a lightweight concealer. Dust the face with a translucent powder if she applied any concealer or tinted moisturizer. On the cheeks, I’d recommend a light pink blush to enhance the youthful appearance she probably has. Stay away from magenta and shimmery blush because both of those look unnatural. The eyes are the easiest place to make a mistake. Tell her to apply a light pink or tan on her lid to enhance her brown eyes. On her lashes, she can wear a dark brown mascara because since she was black hair, it sounds like she has dark lashes. Stay away from liner at her age because it’s easy to screw this up. This part can take your look from innocent to hooker. Yeah… now for the lips. Don’t over do it. A shimmery lip balm or a peach lip gloss is fine. I’m going to be honest, this is the type of makeup I wear and I’m a sophomore in high school. Good luck 🙂Answer by Lacey
I personally think she’s too young for make-up. I think the only thing she should be wearing is lip gloss.Answer by ‘lina
well this is a bit delicate but i can answer this 🙂
i have an older cousin (now 23) who’s mom, my aunt, is a make up artist.
my cousin, like your sister wanted to wear make up at a pretty young age.
my aunt wasn’t really that into it but she let her wear a tiny bit in the end.
but just concealer, lip gloss and maybe mascara.
honestly i don’t think that an 11 year old really needs more than that. (foundation at the most)
hope i helped 🙂
Answer by MelaniaA little blush, lip gloss, and a tiny bit of mascara. NOT a lot.
