jaymax173: What kind of horse exactly did they use to figure out horsepower for pony cars?
A pony is a small horse right but can pull allot not very fast?
So maybe the horse they based it on was a small anemic pony?

The horse power rating is devised by using a stable horse and finding out how much it can pull alone. It was originally measured in torque. But people don’t understand torque. 1 foot pound is one pound of leverage one foot out. HP is the torque times the RPMs devided by 5250.
