The role of computing in the medical profession is to take over human doctors
Why is this in psychology?
Anyway, the computer has a great deal to help in the medical profession:
Storing clients records: so they don’t get lost, safety of data (esp. if it is not put on line), cross referencing data, making storage cheaper. etc.
Other administration: Staff control, budget control, facilities control.
As a communications tool: Doctors can talk on line or post and search fro information.
A diagnosis tool: a doctor can feed in symptoms and get information which he might not otherwise find. A client can use it to check whether its worth an appointment. Some problems need never get to the doctor because they have simple and self administering solutions.
when linked to equipment it enhances the abilities of the medical technician.
And when connected to a robot – remote surgery, so an expert can operate from a different location.
