Sloanfesta: What is the right size bike for someone with a 27 inch inseam?
I’m 5’7 with a 27 inch inseam. What is a good size bike for me? How can you tell the size of a bike?
I tried out bikes at places like Walmart and I’m usually at the tip of my toes on a bike with 26 inch wheels with the seat adjusted to the lowest level. I tried out the 24 inch wheel bikes and they seem too small.

That’s your problem right there. Go to a real bike shop, where they’ll have tons of bikes of all different frame sizes, and different wheel sizes also. A 27 inch inseam is pretty small; you’ll be on a smaller bike. If you’re looking for a road bike, you may have better luck looking for 650c wheels, instead of the standard 700c.

There’s your first & biggest mistake. Next, proper saddle height. When on the saddle you should NOT be able to comfortably touch the ground with both feet. If you can sit on the saddle & comfortably touch the ground with both feet, the saddle is much too low. Once you start riding & pedaling, your knees will be in your chest. This will in turn cause knee pain.
I highly suggest going to some REAL bicycle shops where questions can be answered by pros – not “associates”. See and read all links below please.
Answer by David D.5′ 7″ tall is not THAT small. Real bike shops sell bikes with various frame sizes to fit anyone from 5′ tall to 6′ 6″ tall. Stay away from discount store bikes if you are serious about cycling. Pure junk. See a real bike shop.
At your height, all major companies make bikes with either 26″ or 700C wheels that would work. Google ‘bicycle shop’ and your zip code. Go see all of them.

Here is a size site for you. Yoiu neglected to tell us what kind of bike. Be careful of Walmarts one-size-fits-all bikes!
Just click on the type bike and complete.
