Esther: What is the proper etiquette on kissing on the hand?
When guys kiss girls on the hand, all I’ve seen are when the guys make direct contact with their lips and the girl’s hand.
But I’ve heard that it’s a bit rude to kiss the girl on the hand and instead the guy should kiss her ring if she had any and if she didn’t have any rings, kiss his own thumb.
Where is the hand kissing come from and what is the proper way to do it?

Keep it brief, make direct eye contact and never engage your tongue.
I can not think of a situation that kissing the hand would be the correct greeting … other than in some religious context (kissing the Bishops ring, etc.)
It is not very sanitary for one thing, but it also invades the private space of the woman involved. Kissing, even on the hand, should be done with some level of permission and understanding.
Answer by C.E.O.But if it’s welcome, it’s so sexy and gentlemanly. I’d say not to kiss a girl on the hand until you have freedom to hold and caress her hand with your own, and to pay close attention to how she reacts. I’d think a guy was strange if he tried to kiss my ring, but I love it when a guy I like kisses my hand as long as he doesn’t slobber all over it. It’s more of a precursor to kissing on the lips and light making out in my experience.
