Nikki K: What is the importance of literature in our society?
I have a major presentation on literature and I’m having trouble. I know literature is important and it effects basically everything, but I’m having trouble putting it into the right words.

Literature is the basis of all human arts….all forms of expression. It was only until writers learnt to express themselves in words that artists began to express themselves through pictures. Literature put emphasis on humanism: the ability and greatness of an individual that until the Romantic Era, our world knew nothing about. All the different ages have been identified and emphasised in LITERATURE…the modernist era (the modernist idea of “newness” was expressed through new literary forms like free verse)
