Scott Roewe: What is the case against gay marriage in the United States?
I am in full support of gay marriage. I believe that gays should be entitled to all of the same rights as straights. What I want to know is an informed case against gay marriage. Arguing for gay marriage here is redundant. Also, If you are for gay marriage and have beliefs of why people are opposed to it, try and hold your tongue. I want responses from people who are actually opposed to it. Thank you.

Well… Religious people believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. But they specifically think that gay marriage undermines the basis of an “american family” (married parents, 2 kids, pets, and such). Other than that…. they don’t have much else to argue… bc people believe that homosexuality is wrong when its just a part of life.

As far as secular arguments go… there are none. There is no empirical evidence that suggests any of the claims against gay marriage are true (for example: gay people being less fit to parent, homosexuality being unnatural). But when you throw in religion, you have religious groups that want the law of the United States to reflect what they believe the Bible to say.

Well the best case is that homosexuals are 3 times more likely to cheat than normal people, according to a study, other reasoning would be that homosexuals are incapable of stable relationships. Also there is the fact that if they wish to have children they will not be able ot teach that child good moral conduct.

It is not about god, it is like this. Marriage is something started in chruch ( Religion ). It is not man and man but woman and man. People proceedingin such acts needs to keep it, to there special meetings. Not in my face as a school proffessor, not in the super market, not even in public places where children might be.

I have nothing wrong with anybody, anyway at all. It like this, if me and the guys are talking about hot sex, I should not have to see, a guy walk up and talk about barebacking rituals. Also, the only reason why nobod has not wiped out the homosexuals, is that THE SAME PEOPLE WHO WANTS THEM GONE BELIEVES IN GOD. NOBODY IS GOING TO GO ON A HOMOSEXUAL HUNT, SINCE THAT DEFIES GOD RULE.

the case against gay ” marriage” is simply that it isn’t marriage. plain and simple. it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that two people “fisting”
does not make a family.

and before anybody comes up with the ” what I do in my bedroom is nobody’s business “argument . once again it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you can’t demand ” privacy” and then declare a month of ” recognition and celebration” of what you do and run a parade down mainstreet. You simply cannot demand having both ways without looking like a fool and a hypocrite.
