Sophia … <3: What is the best style of dance for tall people?
I am 13 years old and I have just started lyrical dancing with no previous experience with dancing. I tried a few other styles but they were all to hard other than lyrical. I am 170cm which is tall for my age and I was just wondering if i made the right choice. Flexibility isn’t a problem, I can naturally do the splits but I’m not extremely well coordinated. Is lyrical dancing hard for tall girls especially with no dance experience?

Ballet is always looking for tall, strong dancers. The younger you start, the better.Answer by superchick654321
Im a 14 year old dancer whose been dancing since i was three. Im also a very tall person, and i know what your going through. Even though ive been dancing since i was a little girl ive only been doing ballet, but now that i am older ive been getting interested in doing contemporary dance also. The only problem is that i have such a strong ballet back round, its extremely hard for me to let loose and do contemporary, and its even harder to do jazz. But since you just started you could try to focus in on pretty much any type of dance style as long as you are willing to work hard. All dance classes are going to be hard at first, but there is nothing you can do about thatthat’sts just life. And for being tall that shouldn’t stop you from doing the kind of dancing you like. For example, to be a Radio City Rockett, you have to be between 5’6 and 5’10 to be in their kick line, ssometimeses being really tall comes in handy.Don’t think about how being tall holds you back, think about how many doors it opens up for you!Answer by truecockney
Have you considered taking lessons in the traditional ballroom dances? (Foxtrot; Quickstep; Waltz; Tango)
These are more elegant dances that require less fast, extended movement and suits the taller dancers.
Typically, the smoother the dance, the more suited it is to a taller person. Faster and jazzier dances seem to be more suited to shorter people.
Answer by joyheight is not a problem. in fact, lots of short dancers often wish to be taller (like me)
