nothingclever89: What is the average selling price of a 1970 Volkswagen Beetle?
I have found a private seller in my area selling one for $ 4750. Its restored fairly nicely and has about 111,000 miles on it, I think. I have pictures if anyone wants to help me out seriously! I want to haggle him down, but besides not knowing how to do so, I have no bases for comparison as far as price, so any help would be useful.

did it pass emissions/ as most don’t be weary i’d say cost is simple would pay that much? can you barter say bring down to round number of $ 4500.00 lots of miles 9first engine not likely) which engine now check Vin#’s ??? between it and body of car?? german or mexican built? or evan brazillian?
I guess it would depend on what part of the country you’re in. We just got a 69 Sedan that had been restored 4 years ago for $ 3500 – supposedly 5,000 on the engine. But we’ve paid anywhere from $ 500 to $ 5,200 for Volkswagens … the $ 3500 and $ 5200 were for the ones that had been restored within less than 5 years.
The 111,000 might show on the speedometer, but how many miles are on the engine? or is that the original engine? What sort of work has been done on the engine, if any? The engine number will match the number under the spare tire if it’s the original engine. What about the floor pans? Where they completely replaced or are there holes? Check under where the battery is … the under the front apron … around the bottom of the doors and fenders … look for any ANY oil in the engine compartment – does it look like it’s been spattered out anywhere? Is there an oil leak under the car? Are the heater channels there? Do the vents work? How about the horn and cigarette lighter – even if you don’t smoke … it has to do with electrical.

most bugs even in prestine show qualtiy only go for around 4 grand at the most. you can kelley blue book it. although i think the kelly blue book only goes back like 20 years or so, but i know there is a site where you can check the value of older cars.
yeah anyway, if he wants 4750 for it hes asking way to much even if it is restored. i just bought a 72 superbeetle with a rebuilt 1600dp and decent interior for 1450, mine just needs a paint job.Answer by mokimoto
It depends on the restoration. people tend to charge a lot for Bugs that are just “decent”. check the Bugs for sale @ thesamba.com they have 1000’s of Bugs for comparison.
