mizsunshine: What is a good laptop to get to use for college or for anything?
I want to purchase a laptop for mostly school and just personal use. I don’t know what a good kind to get is at a resonable price. Also, I seen those mini notebooks and I was just wandering if those are nice to have or are they hard to type on or anything. Would a regular laptop be better than a mini notebook? Do they both offer the same stuff? And what is the best laptop to get for your money?

search for the asus PL30JT, pre good stats, intel i5 processor, but most of all 10+ hours of battery life.
going to about $ 1300 – $ 1400 (AUD)
Answer by Melwell the one i just got is the 14″ HP Pavilion and i LOVE it for college. its small, light, and portable and it has microsoft word for all of my essays, the internet on it is fast, and windows 7 runs like a dream. The battery life is like three hours, which is pretty good, and if you order online on the link i gave you, you can customize it to add whatever you want! like more memory, better battery, things like that that would be extra money…but i got the basic on everything and i still think its great!
Honestly, this is the laptop i would recommend to anyone looking to use it for school and for entertainment, i LOVE it, and it wasn’t really expensive at all…it was like $ 600 I think, which is like…a really good price. so yeah, definitely recommend it.
Answer by Lasse KohauHi Miz,
I have had three Toshiba laptops, and currently on the fourth. I have never had a single issue or techical problem with them.
They have always been good for me, they are reliable and have great performance. I prefer to buy them at Amazon because, their prices are very good – and right now there’s a strong sale going on.
Toshiba laptops are just rock solid products. If your looking to buy one, I would recommend you do it quickly, as they are extremely popular products.
Here’s a good link of a great Toshiba Laptop:

You dont have to spend a lot on a laptop. You need a decent processor, good battery life and a word processing program. My daughter does a lot of power points.
Also get one with a webcam and mic or buy external ones if it does not because everyone skypes in college. Downloadthe program free online and then you connect to your friends back home or in their own colleges and your family and you can talk instead of type and see each other, keeps you connected.
We got our daughters computer, A HP Entertainment laptop used a computer repair shop and it comes with a mic and webcam.
