Alexander B: What is a good guitar for a beginner but will still be useful, far after I’ve learned all there is too know?
I’m looking for a guitar that will help facilitate learning but I’ll still be able to use far after. Is learning the guitar more based on the learner and not the guitar? Also, try to find one on a budget.
A specific electric guitar.

I’m not sure if you’re looking for a specific brand to buy or what… so all I can say right now is that you can never go wrong with an acoustic guitar. You can practice with it ANYWHERE (you don’t need it plugged in as with an electric), plus it sounds great.
PRS has less expensive models, called the SE models. They’re not cheap althought they’re much cheaper than their American-made models and they’re still excellent guitars.Answer by Sal Chaech
Don’t count on learning all there is to know. There’s always room for improvement.
The problem is, I don’t know what style you’re shooting for, and while I could recommend an intermediate guitar for you, I don’t know which one’s for you. That’s why I always suggest to beginners to get a cheap one, and by the time you’re any good, you’ll know what guitar you want next, and more importantly, why.
It’s based more on the learner than the guitar. Even cheap guitars these days aren’t the worst quality. The frets might be a little rough, and the materials used might be of lower quality, but it has playability. In other words, the strings aren’t a mile high off the fretboard.
Learning isn’t easy. I’m self-taught, but most people benefit from a teacher. Don’t let the period in the beginning of your days of playing when you suck get you down. Everyone sucks at first. I did, so did Jimi Hendrix, so will you. It’s normal.
Good luck with that.
Answer by Make’n MusicI think one of the best starter guitars these days is a CA – Composite Acoustic. They are super easy to play, and are made of carbon fiber – which means they are super sturdy and are not susceptible to temperature/humidity issues like wood guitars – basically one less thing you have to worry about.
They sound great and last forever. Feel free to e-mail us at [email protected] or check out our web site (below). We have several in stock of varying sized and cool designs.
They are not the cheapest – but they’re certainly not the most expensive – and you get what you pay for. You won’t keep or enjoy an entry level laminate guitar forever. If your family and friends each chip in $ 25 bucks (as a holiday gift) and you chip the cost of a “crappy” entry level guitar – you can probably afford a CA Cargo. Hope this helps and again feel free to reach out with any additional questions.

Get a yamaha pacifica. They are built nicely, and the high end professional level models are only like $ 400. They kick ass. You could get a used one for 250, i bet. And, after you learn to play a little, if you decide it’s not your style, you can get the pickups changed out to suit you better. Make sure to buy a halfway decent amp, though. The solid state marshalls are pretty nice. the mg series.Answer by guitarocker100
I started out with one of those Starcaster Cosco 100$ packs. DONT DO THAT! The guitars are horrible and so is the amp.
I then got an Ibanez AG75 BS and it was good for a while.
Then, I bought a cheap Dean MLXM and that was awesome! It was easy to play and like $ 250. That proves that a good guitar isnt always expensive.
Now I have an Ibanez RG4EXFM1 and it’s the best yet.
So basically dont start with a starter pack but try asking a dealer at Guitar Center or something. Also, make sure you get a good amp!!!! A cheap amp causes you to sound worse than you are really playing.
Answer by jimMIf your looking to play electric guitar Ibanez makes several lower end models. They are pretty nice guitars. I’ve been playing one of the better models for many years. They are well built and have good action. Be sure the action isn’t terrible. The action is the distance between the strings and the frets. Be sure the strings aren’t too high, but at the same time there isn’t string buzzing.
