thatt1guyy: What happens when you connect a car subwoofer to a home entertainment system?
I have a 12″ sub I no longer need and tested it out on my home entertainment system. It sounds pretty good actually,I heard after awhile the coil inside the speaker will come undone or something like that, and I dont care becouse its just a single rockford fosgate 12″ my bro gave me for free so ill play it till it blows,i was just wondering if it would damage my entertainment reciever?

the speaker may over load the amp if you conenct it wrong. check the impedance of the speaker and the power of the amp.
it will blow up the speaker after a while cars are 4 ohm and your system is more likley to b 8 ohm it will work for a bit then it will slowly get worse or ub could wind it right up and blow it up in less than a minite it wont damage the systemAnswer by Jimmie

well done bootyPaul. You will indeed blow the “bejaysus out of it” especially if you crank the volume up.Probably wont hurt your other speakers but if you have the sub wired up thru your speakers then I wouldnt take a chance.Answer by Son of Gap
Mate – you don’t want an overload to cause a meltdown, especially if the wiring is aged and brittle. You can actually smell it when it happens
