: What happened on the saturday on the easter story?
I need to find out what happened on the saturday of the easter story. Easter story is when Jesus had his last dinner on Thursday, then died on the cross on friday then became alive again on sunday.
But what happened on the saturday?

The scripture is silent on matters concerning this day.
The Apostles and Nicene Creeds which are confessed by the Roman, Lutheran and Episcopal churches say, ” …He (Jesus) descended into hell…”
Theologically, that is taken as meaning that Jesus went to those that had already died.
The reason why Christ was buried in haste on Friday, was because it was nearing sundown, the beginning of the Jewish Sabbath, when no work could be done. If tradition is the norm, then one might rightly assume that normal Sabbath customs were followed. After sundown on Saturday, spices would have been collected and other items for what was planned to be a proper burial.
(Keep in mind that tombs in the time of Christ, were more like 2 room caves. The first (entrance room) used for mourners and a place to prepare the body. The second room, being where the body was placed on a “shelf” for the flesh to decay. After a year the bones that remained were put into an ossuary (bone box). and buried in the ground.

it isn’t obvious to you what happened on SATURDAY…? the day of satyr…? ummmmm, let me see. on saturday the bible says that you are to perform no work, so…. i guess nothing happened. everyone just stayed home and got drunk like they were supposed to do.
