sarabeth: What gift to get brother who got married alone on an island?
I cannot afford to spend the typical 100-200 someone would usually spend on a brother. Is a gift needed if the couple did not have a wedding? Any ideas for an inexpensive way to congratulate the couple?

You could get a multi-picture frame and put a bunch of photos of them in it. Or you could make a photo album for them.
I think the most important thing is to find something creative and from the heart. Those are the gifts that mean the most.

He is your brother, and that doesn’t change depending on where he got married. If you love him, then give him a gift to congratulate him.
Spend what you can and don’t worry about if it’s enough. Stay within your budget. Do they “need” anything for their new home? That might help you find some ideas.
Check sales, off price stores like Marshalls, etc. You might find the perfect gift at a price you can afford.

of course they still need gifts. cash gifts help them pay for their trip they just took, and help them set up their new household together. just because they eloped doesn’t mean they don’t need gifts. find out if the bride registered for gifts at a store she likes, and you can get something on her list or you can get a gift card to that store. spend at least $ 50 if you can.
