kelly: What gift can someone give to a catholic priest for Christmas? Would giving a stole a good idea?
I would like to give a gift to a priest. I was thinking of giving him a stole( it’s the fabric that priest wear around their necks while giving mass) but i didn’t know if someone can give them that? And if we can then can someone give an idea of where to buy them online. If it’s not a good gift can someone give more ideas? thanks!

Give him a Christmas card with God’s opinion written in it: “It is not good for man to be alone.” Also include Paul’s instruction to Timothy that bishops (and all priesthood holders) ought to have wives. Marriage was given not just to bless our lives, but to bless us through eternity, too.Answer by Jill: K.M.A.A.
I’d think a priest would be beyond gift giving or receiving. Their calling is higher than that, don’t ya think?Answer by 6ofUs

I don’t see why you couldn’t. My priest (Episcopal) was telling us about a stole he received as a gift. I would guess that if you just google stoles for priests or something along those lines. If you don’t do that, then I would think a gift card to a restaurant or a place he could use one would be good. I usually get my priest a Starbucks gift card because he enjoys coffee.Answer by clark.robert57
No stole. That is provided by the church. You need to check first,as many priests cannot have material possesions. Maybe volunteering would be a better gift.Answer by dayooper57
Give him the Good News. He is part of a religion that spent millions protecting pedophiles and attacking their victims. What you say amen to is what you will have to answer for. Jesus said ” it would be better to be thrown into the sea with a mill stone around your neck then to harm one of these little ones.” The Catholic Church is damned and it will lead more people to eternal damnation than any other false religion including those who follow the Qua ran.
I feel sorry for catholics because they have to try and work or earn their way to heaven by being good enough.
The bible they read tells us just the opposite as Martin Luther so famously exposed to the catholics. By Faith Alone.Answer by epat87
Kelly, your going to get a lot of flak on this question from idiots and wanna-be comics. Do what my mom has done for years. Bake something! Or have someone bake it for you. Mom makes banana bread and it’s greatly appreciated. If the stole is your choice, I would suggest an online search for religious wear. Remember, priests are people who need gloves, scarves, use your imagination.Answer by souad b

I don’t think they are sold, I think they are provided by the church.
If you wish to give him a gift, give him something he can enjoy on his own time. Does he enjoy music, books, crafts, plants, exercise?

A gift to a priest should give no one any ideas of impropriety. Find out if a stole can be a gift.
If not, give nothing too personal or expensive, A nice pair of socks would be good.

A couple years ago my parish got together and collected money to buy Father a surprise nativity set. It was a really ornate set, though, costing $ 1200.
So maybe you could by him a nice Christmas/ holiday decoration (I highly doubt you’ll be shedding $ 1200 for this cause). Try visiting a Catholic giftshop – they’ll surely be stocked with all kinds of great items.
Tip: DO NOT make him food. Trust me, he’ll already be loaded with more food than he can eat, from many other parishioners.

Since you’re asking I’ll take an I-Phone and a laptop….
Just kidding…
Priests are people too…
Your priest would appreciate any thoughtfulness directed their direction. Priests belonging to religious orders often take vow of poverty. However many parish priests do not fall into that category.
How about something hand-made?
Stoles and other liturgical items are very appropriate
