I’m just toying around with LinkedIn’s developer tools and I want to know what you can do with their API and how it would benefit me. (I’m talking about their actual API, not their widgets)

Hi,
The linked in API seems to be used for integrating some feature to another product.
Imagine you have your own portal which centralise all your feeds, communities, profiles you have on the Web. With that API, you can for exemple modify your linked-in profile by just updating some sections on your portal without need to connect yourself on the linked-in site.
When you update your status on linkedin is a good example.
