Things they should NOT be doing…and even if you try to prevent it, if a teenager wants to do something badly enough, sadly, they’ll find a way to do it. Best to be straight with them, don’t think they’re the ‘exception’ and prepare them to the best of your ability for the reality and consequences they could face. If that means putting your 15 year old on birth control, so be it. But, hey, you could be a better parent, too, I had a 9:00 o’clock curfew until I graduated high school, and I had to answer my cell phone the first time it rang or my parents would send the police looking for me. I still found ways to do what I want, but I was also smart about it (on the pill, knew my mentrual cycle like clockwork) than most teenagers are, and I was 18 before I had sex for the first time, so…be a parent and intervene, there are some things you CAN do.Answer by sweetjadedtears
I never got into trouble. Usually went bowling, to the movies, out to dinner with friends, to the arcade, mini-golfing, hanging out at someone’s house (usually mine because it was the “cool house”), swimming at the pool, studying, volunteering, playing at the park (ultimate Frisbee, BBQs in the park), music or movie festivals in the neighborhood, going to see a play or musical, go to the flea market and browse, hang at the mall (didn’t do this too much), playing sports or doing rehearsals for an activity (music, theatre, etc)
That’s pretty much how I spent my time in high school. My friends and I really didn’t get into trouble. I always called my parents to say “hey-we’re gonna go _____” and they would always be very cool about it and tell me to be safe and have fun. I’ve always been close with my parents so they’ve always trusted me, and vice versa(the way it should be). I think it’s bad when people stereotype all teens as being kids that have no regard for anyone else and just want to party and drink, etc. I think it’s just horrible that people get in trouble for saying things like that about race or gender, but no one cares when you’re discussing age.
Oh, and i went on birth control when i was 14–never made me want to go out and have sex with every guy I knew. I knew the dangers of unprotected sex, and drinking and drugs and chose not to do those things to my body–so obviously there was at least one teen out there who was able to make good decisions, contrary to popular belief.
Answer by flingebuntIt depends. Teenagers are usually bored, look to older children and young adults for inspiration as to what to do and will often do nearly anything.
Young teenagers often go to a friends house, watch movies, use the computer, play computer games and so on (if you want your children to stay in, get a big screen TV and X-box, playstation etc, and then their friends come around and hang).
Now going out. Early evening means going to the mall, shopping hanging around, being cool. Meeting friends.
Late night, when things are closed might involve drinking in parks, and getting into a bit of trouble. Trying to get into bars and clubs.
Children who go out once a month will do less. Children going out every weekend get bored and cause problems. In Sydney Australia some of the richest suburbs have the most problems with teenages, because they have money for taxis, drugs and staying out at night.
