For teh Lulz: What car is best suited to drive off a cliff and make a huge explosion?
I want to drive a car off a cliff for a film I am doing in Video Class. In it, there will be one scene where the character is standing under a cliff, then there is a doll there when the car explodes, then in the scene after, the character walks off, discovering he has superpowers. My goal is to make the explosion as big as possible without using nuclear bombs. What sort of car is best suited to fly to pieces in an explosion, and what sort of explosives would best blow apart the car upon impact?

You can use any type of vehicles, just use lots of gasoline and lit it before going off the cliff..=)
Why do something to crazy. Special effect the explosion.Answer by Adam T
You should really have a demolitions expert handle this sort of thing. Cars don’t explode on their own usually. Myth Busters has had a hard time getting cars to explode on their own. A nearly empty gas tank is more likely to explode than an nearly full one.
You would need some instable chemical explosive for the car to blow up on its own on impact. And that means that chemical should not be handled by you, but by an expert. acetone peroxide and nitro glycerin come to mind.

You are not allowed to do that, because you could start a much bigger fire, that spreads beyond the car and eventually endangers homes or becomes a forest fire.
For movies and television shows, they used to have to use professional stunt coordinators and have fire engines standing by in case anything went wrong. Even that was dangerous.
Now, they have a safer approach: they can use a computer to add flames wherever they want. This also eliminates the need for the doll. The real person can be standing there, because there is no explosion on the set; they add the explosion in post-production.
Answer by olddog0558Kid, you have way too much time on your hands. In this day and age, with the post-911 attitude and security issues, if the right people get wind of you planning to blow up a car you will be hounded and followed by more Federal agents and FBI cops than you have ever imagined. Then, if you ever plan to fly anywhere in the future, don’t be surprised if your name shows up on a watch list or no-fly list.
You could also be labeled or suspected of being a terrorist, which could really screw up your chances of getting a good job in the future.
When my generation was kids, the stuff we did was harmless and fun. Nowadays it’s taken seriously.
How about this. Use toy cars, make it obvious, and instead of a superhero movie turn it into a spoof. Laughter won’t get you tailed by the Feds.
