voll3yballgirl: What can I do if my mom checks her passport right before a trip and its expired?
My mom is from England and we are about to go to Europe to visit her mom who is sick. Weve been planning this trip for months. About thirty minutes ago, my mom checked her passport. It expired two months ago. She fainted and is now sobbing. Is there ANYTHING we can do??? Our flight is at 12 PM tomorrow.

It is really a very bad situation…I think you should go to the passport office tomorrow morning. Tell your mom to pack her things (but prepare her mentllay that the results might be negative). Tell the Passport people your problem and see if they can help you in any way.
If your mom doesn’t get the permission to go, make sure to apply for the renewal of the passport then & there and reschedule your trip.
p.s. Dont forget to take your mom’s documents with you.

She can get a new one made in the UK while she is there. If she is a British subject, it can be done, even in emergency. I would google “British passport emergency” and take it from there.
In any case, most of the time, most countries accept a passport from their citizens which has expired less than 6 months back.
In any case, as long as she has the proper papers for the RETURN trip, she will be fine.

Something similar happened to me, I had renewed my passport and when I got the new one back they had spelt my name wrong as Saffron and my name is Shaffron.
I noticed about a week before I left for my trip and went storming down to the post office and demanded they sort it out.
They did but it took 4 days for it to get back to me as I got priority.
Wouldn’t know what to do in your case really sorry, try go plead your case at passport officials.
