:)<3: What books would you suggest to a girl entering high school?
My dad doesn’t like me on the computer, so he told me he’d take me to the library later to get some books. I’m not sure what to get though. Does anyone have any good suggestions? Preferably books that will open my eyes about something.
Don’t suggest anything from Stephanie Meyer or Sarah Dessen, I’ve read their books already.

I am the same age and I liked these booksAnswer by ck1
Since you are going to enter high school, why not try to read some books which may be required sooner or later?
I would suggest some like:
-To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
-Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
-Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
-A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
-Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison
-Night by Elie Wiesel
-Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl (also known as The Diary of Anne Frank)
-The Crucible by Arthur Miller
-The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
-The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer
-Beowulf (at least I was required to read this one)
-Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
-Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
-Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
-Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell
-some of William Shakespeare’s plays like Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth and others
-Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
-A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway (or others of his)
-The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
-The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
-Life of Pi by Yann Martel
-The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
-Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
-Lord of the Flies by William Golding
-The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
-The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
-My Antonia by Willa Cather
Obviously every high school is different, so there may be many on the required reading list that I haven’t put down and some you won’t be required to read. I hope this helps, however.

I love Meg Cabot (Heather Wells & Queen of Babble) and Sophie Kinsella’s (Shopaholic [soon to be movie] & Remember Me) Emily Giffin (Something Borrowed & Something Blue, Baby Proof) books. I am in the process of reading Jennifer Weiner’s (Good In Bed & Certain Girls) books. They are all great authors!
For a young adult/teen I recommend Meg Cabot’s young adult books. She is the best author. Also best selling. She wrote tons of books including the Princess Diaries (Movies based on her books), Mediator (upcoming movie), 1-800-Missing (TV show based on her books), Jinx, Airhead and more. She has adult books too, so you can grow with her.

i am also a 15 year old girl who loves to read and i find interest in similar books as you do (the clique series seems so fake)
Ender’s Shadow and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card

https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/enders-game-orson-scott-card/1100353963?ean=9780812550702&itm=1&
these two books are probably two of the best books i have ever read and i have read each book multiple times… the synopsis for each of the books does not do them justice and i HIGHLY recomend that you read them… i have supplied links to the barnes and noble site for each book so you can see the reviews from other readers as well as the summaries
Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/great-and-terrible-beauty-libba-bray/1100292394?ean=9780385732314&itm=1&
these books have a bit of romance in them but i promise you that they are fantastic and not shallow whatsoever! they are fantasy books about a girl who has the gift and burden of magical abilities and keep the reader interested from start to finish
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/angels-and-demons-dan-brown/1100306723?ean=9780743486224&itm=2&
this book is by the same author as the davinci code, however i find it even better… the plot is exciting and different and you wont want to put the book down until it is over! i stayed up until 3 one night to finish the 600 page story (give or take a few pages) which i had started earlier that day on the way to a basketball game… a must read!
Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/eragon-christopher-paolini/1100292381?ean=9780375826689&itm=3&
if you liked harry potter you will LOVE the inheritance set by paolini! i personally find these books to be much better than harry potter and i have read both books twice and will probably read them again before the 3rd book comes out in september. i was thoroughly disappointed by the movie becasue the books were so much better
and last of all…..
ANYTHING BY TAMORA PIERCE
especially the quartets which take place in Tortal….these books are absolutely fantastic and i have read every one of her books and am eagerly waiting for more… i have suggested these books to my friends, including those who hate to read, and all of them are now just as addicted to her books as i am… my favorite books by Pierce include:
the alanna quarter (song of the lioness)
the kell quartet (protector of the small)
the alainne books (daughter of the lioness)
the first book in the terrier series
HAPPY READING!!!!
Answer by Blue StarI’m also a girl entering high school. I think you should try reading:
— The Twilight Series by: Stephenie Meyers IT’S A YOUNG ADULT SERIES FOR TEENS. I LOVED THAT SERIES!!!!!!!!! IT’S A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERS!!
— The Bartimaeus Triology by: Jonathan Stroud IT’S FOR EVERY AGE AND A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!!! THESE BOOKS ARE REALLY GREAT!!!!!!!!! IT TOOK ME SEVERAL DAYS TO START READING OTHER BOOKS AND THINK THEY’RE NOT LAME.
–The Harry Potter Series by: J.K. Rowling IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THIS SERIES, YOU’RE REALLY MISSING OUT. IT’S THE BEST SERIES I’VE EVER READ. BUT IT’S ALREADY CONSIDERED 2nd COMPARED TO THE TWILIGHT SERIES(1st choice, above). THAT’S WHY YOU SHOULD READ BOTH TWILIGHT SERIES AND HARRY POTTER SERIES.
–The Inkheart Series by: Cornelia Funke YOU HAVE TO READ THIS SERIES. THIS SERIES IS ABOUT A GIRL WHO CAN ACTUALLY READ SOMEONE OR SOMETHING out OF A BOOK OR READ SOMEONE OR SOMETHING into A BOOK. Imagine that “Tinker Bell from Peter Pan series” actually came to real life OR you jumping into the story “Cinderella”!!!!!!!!!! Aint that great?
THESE 3 BOOK SERIES ARE ALL VERY GOOD, NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLINGS, FANTASY BOOKS, AND ALL VERY BOOKS !!! THE’RE ALL VERY POPULAR SERIES. MAKE SURE YOU READ IT BEFORE GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
