Linz: What are your thoughts on Obama calling the White House tree a “holiday tree” instead of a “Christmas tree”?
I have no idea whether this is a factual claim or not. It was just a poll I took on Facebook, LOL!

Answer by psymistressI think it is a sad state of affairs when we need to be scared of offending someone else purely by our existing in the same space. I am not a Christian, nor have I ever been one, but I have absolutely NO problem with it being called a Christmas tree!Answer by Pokiestic at heart

Holiday – from the Old English “haligdæg” (halig “holy” + dæg “day”). There are no “holy days”, so I don’t see how that word is much better of a choice than “Christmas”.Answer by Miss Plume

I think Obama will say whatever he thinks his voters want to hear.
And I don’t really think what he calls the tree matters. I’m more worried about what he is doing to this country.

Glad you asked. I think only a moron would not see the need for the president of the United States, or other world leader, to be inclusive. So, “holiday tree”.
p.s. Bob? for a tree? Irving maybe, or Marcel, or Terrence, but Bob?
Answer by TakoraI’m fine with it.Answer by Dr. Frog, Flying High Again
He identified the tree correctly. pagans, who decorated trees centuries before christ was born never, ever called them “Christmas trees”Answer by charchar
Just additional evidence that he is antichrist. Not the antichrist but antichrist in his behavior. The makers of an ornament from each state received letters stating that the theme is Holiday Tree and all ornaments submitted must not contain any reference to Christmas, a Nativity Scene or Jesus.
The woman from my state sent a letter telling them if Christ was being left out she would not participate. Obama is an abomination in the eyes of God and Christians. Thank God I didn’t vote for him.
Answer by The Reverend SoleilI think the President should grow a pair and actually STAND for something.
Hell — we call it a Christmas Tree at the Chateau du Soleil, and I’m a muthaf*ckin’ ATHEIST!
Answer by coffee_pot12It is a CHRISTMAS TREE that is donated and cut off of someones farm; it once was a big deal and the Nation thought is was a big deal, like the Christmas Tree in NY, The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, all our great Holiday traditions and celebrations that bring us together as a Nation.
Now everyone is having to do this politically correct CRAP so we do not offend someone!?
Excuse me!
Why am I am supposed to be “offensive” to myself and keep my Christmas joy and Holiday Spirit to myself and be Politically Correct so as NOT to offend someone else???!!!
Obama is a puppet that only speaks when they pull his string and wind him up.
It is a Christmas Tree and I am an old grumpy grandmother that does not chose to be P.C. so Merry Flocking Christmas Obama…

In doing so, he subtly acknowledges that the White House tree (paid for by all taxpaying Americans – not just Christians) is a symbol for a variety of different holidays celebrated around the time of Winter Solstice. And not a means for the pettiness, elitism and divisiveness practiced by his born again hypocrite predecessor. I like it – it’s respectful instead of arrogant and exclusionary.
Oh no… does this mean it’s already the time of year where we have to start hearing the Christians’ whining blather about ‘the war on Christmas’? Humbug.
Answer by SageIt is absolutely correct!!
Do you not know the history of both america and christianity?!!
Christmas is nothing to do with either Christianity or Islam but it does have it’s origins in the midwinter festival and many other basically pagan rites but since much of it is a celebration of nature rather than religion everyone should be able to enjoy it and be happy together despite religion!!
The ancient European pagans celebrated the midwinter festival and a number of other festivals long before Christianity ever existed!
Babylonians celebrated the feast of the Son of Isis with gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift giving and the goddess of fertility, love, and war.
The Romans held a festival on 25 December called “Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, celebrating their own god Sol Invictas – PAGAN.
The Persian god Mithras, the Syrian sun god Elah Gabal, the German Sol, the Greek Helios and the Mesopotamian Shamash. But also Saturnalia, honouring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. The law courts and schools were closed. No public business could be transacted an this is where the holidays originated – ALL PAGAN!!!
Wax tapers were given by the more humble to their superiors. The origin of the Christmas candle – PAGAN!!
In Rome groups of costumed went from house to house entertaining their people. And this was where the carolling Christmas tradition originated PAGAN!!
Statues of the Mother and lover or Mother and son were paraded through the streets not only in Italy but also in Africa, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Bulgaria. Thus, the symbolism of the Heavenly Virgin and the infant child paraded on a yearly basis are not of Christian origin. They stem from the Mother-goddess religion, which is very ancient ENTIRELY PAGAN!!.
Scandinavian countries celebrated Yule honouring Thor – PAGAN.
In Germania (not Germany) they celebrated midwinter night followed by 12 wild nights of eating and drinking. The 12 days of Christmas PAGAN!!
The church under Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25 in 350 AD in order to try to hijack the PAGAN festivals but it was largely ignored. Christians did not really celebrate Christmas until 378 but it was then dropped in 381 and not resurrected until 400.
The Christmas tree stems from pagan tradition and ritual surrounding the Winter Solstice, which included the use of holly boughs ivy and other foliage as an adaptation of pagan tree worship. Holly and ivy represented male and female. Mistletoe was considered a sacred plant, and the custom of kissing under the mistletoe began as a fertility ritual – all PAGAN!!
Santa Claus came from the Dutch “Sinterklaas” and was a tall figure riding a white horse through the air and usually accompanied by Black Peter, an elf who punished disobedient children. Also the origin of the reindeer, sleigh and the elves ALL PAGAN!!
The modern red coated Santa was brought about by coca cola!!
America actually banned Christmas several times and is the originator of the expression “Happy Holidays” which came about because of the pagan origins of Christmas to include all religions and traditions!!
The Venerable Bede, an early Christian writer pointed out that the Christian church absorbed Pagan practices when it found the population unwilling to give up the festivals. Thus a lot of what Christians now see as Christians practices are in fact pagan!!!
Christmas is the time of year christians strive to prove just how pagan they have become!!!
