What are the preferred university programs for medical school?

: What are the preferred university programs for medical school?
I would like to be a Cardiologist and have spoken to someone from Guelph University (Canada) and they said that Molecular Biology and Genetics is a preferred program for med schools, meaning they prefer applicants from that program.
That is the only reason I want to go to Guelph (for that program), but if there are other programs equally or more so preferred by med schools, please let me know. Preferably, programs provided by the University of Western Ontario, since I would love to go there.

Med schools don’t care what you major in. Pick what you want to major in and do that.
