mettophobic: What are the laws put in place to protect farmers in America?
Particularly laws concerning debt collections, and waivers to agreements if the business is failing?
How are farms protected?
*rolls eyes*
There are laws designed specifically for farms and farmers, what are they? What about laws for small businesses.
And no, you idiot there are lots of small farms left.

well family farms are very rare now a days..mostly all corporate.
The government pays farmers large amounts of money called subsidies.Answer by Katey
Usually they are working with smaller banks and people who know them, which helps. They take out operating loans to cover the time while they are producing and pay them back when they sell the final product. As for anything like crops, insurance like that is all up to the individual producer. There are some subsidies out there, but they are usually not all that much. I don’t believe there are any specific laws to speak of when it comes to collections or anything like that, that comes down to the individual bank. They do get a good chunk back in taxes if they lose money though, which also helps them keep on time with loan payments.Answer by skycat
I can’t find the sites I once had that gives that answer. I stopped subscribing to them after spending the last 15 years signing a million petitions to help the small farmer and only to find the subsidies are going to the large corporate farmer. Sorry. There is still talk of helping heirs of farmers keep their land and not get buried in taxes but it hasn’t happened yet. There is also still talk of keeping taxes low enough for the small farmer when land is at a premium and people get re-zoned. That hasn’t happened yet either. Sorry again, but being a person whose land was taken by eminant domain for a shopping center and never given a subsidy, I feel we lost the battle.already.
