Hoping: What are the chances of getting a book published as a teenager?
I was wondering what are the chances of getting a book published as a teenager and what are the steps to get your book published? Details are very helpful. Sometime in the near future I hope to try to accomplish getting a book to a publisher and reading my book. Please help me…. I’m stumped. Thanks in advance. 🙂

slim to none
very VERY few teenagers have the prerequisite skills to write a full length novel good enough to be published (despite what the millions of teens on this site think).
Answer by Afro-Ninja KorrieWell, im not quiet sure. I know se hinton, who wrote the outsiders got published at the age of 16 or 17, If you were to get published as a teen, I would have to say it would have to be a original and marvolous idea, and truly well written and likable characters. And now that I think about it se hinton was published a long time ago, so i believe age doesnt matter, you would probably need an adult if you were 13 or so, maybe to help you with mailing it. I guess you just have to keep trying and stop thinking about the what if’s, if it is a truly marvolous story then copy it and send it out to a publisher, they may decline, just try over and over to different publishersAnswer by Mr Pritchard
I have recently sent my novel, Killed Alive, to many publishers and I’m 16. I’ve had several responses and I’m pretty excited. There’s an extract in my question I just posted if you’d like to read it.
It doesn’t matter how many people say it’s impossible. That just makes it all the more satisfying when you succeed.
All the best!

There are very few chances you’ll get published as a teenager.
Many publishers won’t even bother to read a teenager’s work… and if they do, and you’re any good, they’ll probably make you wait so you can perfect your talent further.
Congrats on actually finishing a novel though! Most of my get discarded after the third page! =]
Answer by MishMashA better question would be; What are the chances of getting a book published? Period. It’s not easy for anyone. I suggest you purchase or rent the latest edition of Writer’s Market. All of your questions will be answered.Answer by somestrangedudewantstoknow
who cares how old you are. as long as you can write reasonably well, and the story and idea is great, innovative and new. if you are a teenager writing a romance vampire book, your odds are extremely low. try to write your own story, but don’t copy what you have recently read. readers don’t want to read the same storyline over and over again. everyone writes differently, and some are better then others, but that doesn’t mean they are more talented. you can be a great writer, but your imagination and stories suck. you can be a mediocre writer, but your imagination and stories are out of this world and amazing. the story sells the book, not the age of the author or style of writing. just keep pushing on and believe in yourself. people say it’s difficult and it will never happen. what do hey know. they haven’t read any of your stories. if you have that attitude with yourself, that you will never get published, then you probably never will. just believe in yourself and don’t listen to other people who say otherwise.Answer by A W
It is very hard for anyone to get published period, even more so for a teenager to get published. Most publishing houses will not even look at your stuff if you do not send it through a literary agent. So the first step would be getting an agent. It is a very difficult and arduous process, but definitely worth it. Start working on a manuscript for sure, and go to your nearest Barnes and Noble and ask for the latest edition of Writer’s Market.
And try this site: https://www.soyouwanna.com/soyouwanna-publish-book-1093.html
I have been using it to make my manuscript.
Good luck!
It doesn’t matter how old you are. It depends on how well your book is written and which publisher you send it to. You could write a fabulous mystery, then submit it to a publisher who only prints non-fiction. To find useful tips on how to get your material published, check out the website www.underdown.org (link below). The information I found there helped my get some of my work published in magazines (no book yet!)
Hope this helps. Good luck!
