Braeden: What are some training methods for soccer to prepare for high school soccer?
I have never played organized soccer but I am dying to play. I am going to a new high school in the fall and I need to know some good training methods to get me better. I play everyday in my backyard praticing ball tricks, speed, kicks, etc. What are some good workout routines as well. The position I want to play is striker, so what are some training routines to ready me for this position at the high school level?

Try to shoot toward the goal as much as you can and every time choose different angle and try to score this will help you a lot to in your finishing.
Well you definitely want to be in shape & have great ball control!
* Do lots of quick sprints like suicides or like 300 yard shuttle runs for speed.
– Also do longer distance running for endurance.
*Dribbling the ball through cones is an easy way to gain ball control.
– or just running around everywhere with the ball at your feet.
* You could warm up by grabbing a friend to toss you the ball to your head (to practice headers), chest (chest traps), thighs (thigh traps), and feet (volleys).
* Place a target in a goal and try to shoot at it from different positions and distances.

well, what you need it EXPERIENCE, believe me. also see if there is a cross country team at your high school. i ran cross country, and track. believe me it helps a lot! if there are such teams, then i recommend you to train with them now, as in tomorrow.
you should be able to run about 5 miles a day, and if not then at least, and i mean minimum of 3 miles a day. soccer is a team sport, and as such, dont expect to run the ball from the defensive line to the forward, most plays originate from midfield. and be in “sync” with your team mates, as the team needs to be in one thought.
you should play with older people too, i used too and it helped a lot.
