Desiree: What are religious people gambling on their specific beliefs without evidence being true?
Each religion is basically a set of unique beliefs in stuff that is without evidence. That’s the common thread amongst all religions; belief in stuff without evidence. People who believe something as absurd as “my beliefs without evidence are true whilst yours are not” are gambling something on this; what is it that they are gambling?

Why god creates us?
To have fun? To play with us like sims 3?
Why?
They’re gambling that they may have the right belief. The odds are not good. I certainly wouldn’t take that bet.Answer by Person
Many scientists belive that there are other dimensions, but in reality there is no real proof to support that claim.
And some religons do have some pretty sensible claims, maybe you should stop labeling all religons as one.
Answer by Nolan Voidfreedom. having proof and evidence and science control your decisions is dangerous, and above all: shallowAnswer by Paul M
Your number 1 presupposition is absolutely incorrect. There is plenty of evidence concerning the existence of God, and even the existence of the God of the Bible.
Logic alone tells us that this universe is just that, a uni-verse. The vast variety (the verse part) is denied by no one. And, the unseen unity that holds things together is recognized by physicists. The universe is complex, organized and mostly acts in harmonious ways. This planet is incredibly anthropocentric. The point is that this universe is more of a garden than a glob. Logic says believe there is a Gardener. Truth is there is either a ‘gardener’ of some sort or everything came from nothing caused by nothing (and that is absurd).
Second, there is more evidence for the resurrection of Jesus Christ than for any other personal event in ancient history.
Finally, maybe set aside all the crap you learned in high school, it’s a wonder you can think at all.
Answer by SandraI have had experiences that are proof enough to me that my beliefs are true. I do not downgrade any other religion that believes their is a God and that Jesus died and was resurrected. Other names or languages may be used but I do not downgrade anyone that believes in God.Answer by Anna Durham
Well what happens if a god does exist and so does heaven and hell and you chose not to believe and now your stuck in hell? i think thats what your gamboling – Lead the life the way the bible/ other holy books and gods tell you too and get into heaven if it exists and if not then your in black nothingness anyway or – Lead a life full of violence sex drugs and nonbelief and do whatever the hell you want and end up in hell?Answer by Jesus Christ
you do realize that includes Flying Spaghetti Monsterism, too, right?
no proof that there is no Flying Spaghetti Monster.Answer by Obey me or go to hell. Love, god
all religions are ignorant superstitions
@kalee jean Your logic is awful. There is no proof that fairies, gnomes, elves, and unicorns don’t exist. Do you believe in those things too?
Answer by Enzai guess but how do atheist know they’re right? aren’t they also gambling?
hell my beliefs are based on books of dialogue published by a man who says he has spoken with God? I believe him and I live my life as if those are Gods words. I really have no evidence, but i look at it this way, if I am wrong(even though there is no doubt in my mind) I wont be disappointed in the way i will have lived my life, but let me tell you it wouldn’t be the same if I were to live as a ChristianAnswer by Praise to the Trinity
My friend the evidence is overwhelming regarding Christianity. That is if you were really interested in looking at the facts. What takes true faith is evolution. The nothing became something somehow even though we did not see it, i.e. the big bang.Answer by Thomas H
The Holy Spirit is evidence. Jesus said He would send the Spirit. The Spirit is here. Jesus sent Him. Jesus is God.Answer by KAL
Why do you insist on equating “evidence” with “proof”. I have a TON of “evidence” that what I believe is true…it may not be scientific evidence, but personal experience constitutes evidence and so does the outcome of critical thought. I’m not gambling anything that everyone else on the planet…including you…aren’t also gambling. You’re gambling on your ability to perceive evidence related to a supernatural being who defined himself as being beyond human perception and comprehension…I’m gambling on his promise that if I would accept his existence on faith alone, he would provide me with all the evidence I’d need to confirm my beliefs about him. At least the jackpot I’m trying to hit is worth billions…the jackpot you’re gambling on is worth nothing.Answer by I-eddie-M
well for one there is a lot of evidence that supports the existence of a god. but if u want to know what they we are gambling, well if all religions are wrong we waisted time, but it wouldnt matter because we’d be dead and wouldnt care. if im right i get to go to heaven.
so the real question is “what are non-believers gambling?” if they are right and there is no god then they die and nothing changes. if they are wrong they go to hell. thats what they are gambling.
Answer by ( deleted )Could it be that they are gambling the freedom to question their own beliefs? The ability to take another’s intellectual position? Of course the most obvious answer is that they are gambling their very soul something that cannot be proven to actually exist. I think that’s where you were going with this. I could be totally off here of course.
