Melissa K: What are good running shoes? And are they worth getting for only a few weeks?
I have to take summer PE. I needed new shoes, and my dad agreed to get me some. The only problem is, I don’t want my parents to spend lots of money on something I only plan to use for a few weeks. I do work out about 2-4 times a week, but I was planning on wearing my worn out shoes. Should I just spend the money and use the running shoes for my workouts or is it just a waste of money to buy something I will only use for a few weeks?

It’s worth getting good shoes, because when you run, te shoes ae the only thing between you and the surface you’re running on.
Get them from a good running store, and explain that as you’re only using them for the summer, you don’t need an expensive pair.
You can, of course, use them in your workouts, or for casual wear, after you stop running.
Hope this helps.
If you’re going retail, Addidas makes great runnng shoes, and not too expensive….but make sure you get their running shoes (should have very thin souls)
your other option is finding a discounter that carries name brands, if you’re in the us, think marshalls, tjmax, ross, etc (returns, overstocks, etc) and checking their selection….my last pair of running shoes cost me $ 20 and would have been around $ 90 at retail.
All that said, if you’re doing anything involving alot of jumping, or lateral (side-to-side) movements you want cross trainers, maybe even basketball shoes, not running shoes….running shoes are designed to handle the stresses of straight line running, and do very little to absorb the shock from jumping or lateral movements.
Answer by Ms. XSince your shoes are old and worn out, it’s time for a new pair to match whatever activity you will be doing in PE: running shoes for running, aerobics shoes for aerobics, etc. I hope you will look at physical activity not just as a summer PE activity, but as a lifelong pursuit. I hope those shoes don’t just sit in the closet over the summer (unless you are pursuing an entirely different physical activity.)
I do well with Ascics and Brooks for running, but someone else might do well with another brand.
Answer by meI ran only a quarter of a mile one time and ended up almost a year with knee and ankle pain which made it hurt to walk and kept me out of work. All because I ran with bad sneakers. So YES get good running shoes.
