C.S.I. Karen: What am I supposed to do with a website that asks for a credit card “nickname?” What is that?
I have no idea what my credit card nickname is. I can’t buy some stuff because of that. Please help me.

Try leaving it blank, if that doesn’t work, try using the same name thats on the card as the “nickname”.
Or just put in anything you like. I could be wrong, but to me it sounds like its asking you to name the card so that its details can be saved, enabling you to select it easily next time.Answer by proudmom
That must be something new. I was on a site the other day that wanted my bank’s nickname.Answer by reguser2005
Its just a short name with which you can refer to the complete card details later. For ex: a nickname like ‘visafuel’ can stand for the VISA card that does not levy fuel surcharge at petrol pumps.
Its just a nickname for your convenience.
Answer by Aldo2The web site is asking you to set-up credit card information related to your account.
You can give your Credit Card a nickname so you can later use that nickname to tell the web site you want to use that same card again (the web site is trying to make it easier for those who use multiple credit cards). If you only use one credit card just call it “My VISA or My Mastercard, or something similar. Then when your order again from the same web site you can then use the nickname to tell the web site to use that credit card again and you will not need to enter all the credit card numbers and expiration date again.
They usually ask you like this:
“Credit Card Nickname:
What name do you want this card to be known by on the stored credit card list?”
Good Luck
Answer by dixierockAre you sure this is a ligitimate secure website? If you are sure everything is on the up and up, I don’t know the answer. I have never been asked for a nickname, when I use my card on the internet. It must be something new, within the last 2 weeks, because I ordered something 2 weeks ago, and was not asked for a nickname..
