use fire fox instead of i8
Best thing to do would be to download it from Microsoft. Then just put your bookmarks on a flash drive and transfer them that way to the laptop.

Answer by Richard MYou have missed a couple of points here. It may have something to do with the operating system on your computer.
Try using Windows Update to get IE8.
As Sonicfan mentioned, Firefox is an option but it doesn’t have the same functionality as IE and no matter what people say, the vast majority of Internet sites are designed around the features of Internet Explorer.
Answer by BillyYou can download the set up onto your desktop or if you already have the setup on your laptop use a usb to copy the files on there, Just right click on the set up and open up the usb then right click once its opened and click paste then copy and paste it on the desktop and install itAnswer by bon-gart
Let’s review.
You can only get online with IE, and no other browser.
You cannot upgrade the browser to a newer version.
You cannot download and install a newer version.
This would be an indication that your OS is corrupted… whether this is by an infection, or by a bad Windows update, or tinkering with system files… the easiest way to fix your problem is to reinstall Windows fresh.
Now, I don’t know what make and model computers you have, and thus I don’t know what version of Windows you are using… but I can guess that you are using an older version of Windows… Probably Windows XP. You probably don’t have the recovery discs, and if you were supposed to make them back when the laptop was new you didn’t do so… and since you are probably using Windows XP, you are unlikely to be able to get the recovery discs from the manufacturer. This would limit your options severely. This would mean you would have to either find a computer repair shop that has an OEM copy of Windows XP they could use with your product key (on the bottom of your laptop) to reinstall Windows, and then install your hardware drivers… or find an OEM copy of Windows XP yourself.
As you are having downloading and installation issues, I don’t recommend downloading and installing infection removal tools, as they probably won’t update and/or install… since no other browser will install.
Sorry if I got some assumptions incorrect… You didn’t provide all that much information to work with.
end of line
